Principal Investigator: Full Professor College of Automation Engineering, Nanjing 210016, China Address: Room 408, #2 CAE building, No.29, Jiangjun Avenue, Nanjing 211106, China Biography: Prof. Xiaofeng Song focuses on research, organizational activities, and academic development within the fields of automation and bioinformatics, specializing in transcriptomics and computational systems biology. He is a selected high-level talent under Jiangsu Province's Six Talent Peaks program. In recent years, Prof. Song has led four projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has led more than ten provincial and ministerial-level research initiatives, including key projects under Jiangsu Province's Research and Development Program. His research output includes over 100 publications in SCI-indexed journals such as Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Proteome Research, Journal of Medical Virology, and Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics (GPB). His work has been cited more than 2,100 times, with an H-index of 23. Prof. Song holds memberships in several professional organizations. He is a board member of the Chinese Society of Bioinformatics (under formation), a committee member of the Bioinformatics and Artificial Life Specialty Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, the Bioinformatics Specialty Committee of the China Computer Federation, and the Intelligent Health and Bioinformatics Specialty Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation. Then he carried out his postdoctoral training with Professor Bin Jiang in Control Science and Engineering at the College of Automation Engineering of NUAA. In 2023, Dr. Zhao joined the department of Biomedical Engineering of NUAA as an associate professor. He mainly focusses on developing novel bioinformatics tools & databases for studies of non-coding RNAs and their roles in human disease: Built a comprehensive database of experimentally verified internal ribosome entry sites – IRESbase. Developed a eukaryotic IRES identification tool – IRESfinder. Presented an efficient IRES identification method – DeepIRES. Built a database of alternative splicing events in circRNAs – circASbase. Proposed a method to identify small ORFs with coding ability – csORF-finder. Developed a tool for identifying novel lncRNA transcripts – lncScore. Proposed a method to identify lncRNA-associated competing triplets – LncMiM. Presented an effective algorithm to identify fusion genes – GFusion. Built a database of histidine phosphorylation proteins and sites – HisPhosSite. Proposed a method for identifying histidine phosphorylation sites – pHisPred. After graduating from HKUST, she joined the Henry Lam Group at the department of biological and chemical engineering at HKUST, as a postdoctoral research scientist. There, she switched her research direction to proteomics and systems biology. Dr. Liu's research interests primarily focus on: 1. Gut microbiota and colorectal cancer, 2. Omics data analysis and mining, and 3. No.29, Jiangjun Avenue, Nanjing 211106, China Biography: Dr. Yixuan Wang received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2023. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Automation, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Her research interests encompass several areas, including biological information computing, bioinformatics, bioinformation management, and clinical decision support system. Dr. Wang has made contributions to the field of bioinformatics, including authoring more than 10 papers published in peer-reviewed SCI journals and holds three authorized invention patents, reflecting her commitment to bridging theoretical research with practical applications. With a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied research, Dr. Wang is dedicated to furthering the development of bioinformatics and computational models in healthcare, particularly in the creation of tools that support clinical decision-making and innovations in digital health. With his expertise in both bioinformatics and cancer immunotherapy, Dr. Wang is making significant strides toward improving precision medicine for cancer patients, particularly in developing comprehensive, data-driven approaches to immunotherapy decision-making.
